Since Midian: The Unofficial Site Of Clive Barker's Nightbreed is still in a stage that can only be considered infancy, it'd be wonderful to get some fan feedback regarding the current content and the sort of content you'd like to eventually see. It goes without saying that I'd love to be able to interview as many people connected with the film as humanly possible, but half the trick is probably going to be finding them. A few things that I definitely plan to add are: - more pictures
- more articles
- character descriptions
And I'll obviously keep the Director's Cut section open and ready to be updated when and/or if a Director's Cut of Nightbreed is released. If you can think of anything else you'd like to see, feel free to tell me in the forum or via email.

I'm totally digging the site. I also have almost all of the comics from the Nightbreed series. If you are looking for any help on profiles for those. Just let me know. Thanks Sentrysix

A comics section is actually in the works, too. I didn't know if I was going to cover them when I opened the site, but they'll make an appearance eventually.
I'm still trying to figure out a visitor friendly layout & decide what sort of info to include, but at this moment, the section will probably include the issue details/credits, a scan of the front cover, plot summary & a sample scan of the artwork within each comic since they weren't all illustrated by the same person/people.
If anyone has any more suggestions about what that section should include, feel free to shoot 'em my way.
Thanks!

Perhaps a section for art related to Nightbreed? Created by the members that is. It would give me an excuse to get back to drawing again. Though I'd have to borrow a scanner.

I actually wouldn't mind having an art section, especially since fans of Nightbreed seem to be creative types. I suspect that I'll have a little bit of time to breathe in the upcoming month, so I'll try to design a section & get it posted on the site somewhere.

Really like the new top of the message board - classy and creepy at the same time, which is a perfect combination!
Is that all that exists of the wall paintings from the film?

You'll actually find quite a few pictures of the mural in both "The Nightbreed Chronicles" and "Nightbreed: The Making Of The Film". You can also find some moderately small, but very, very impressive digital images at Ralph McQuarrie's site (since he was the artist responsible and all): www.ralphmcquarrie.com/galleries/film_tv/filmtv.html

Amazing - his above-ground realization of the Midian crypts looks exactly like what was realized in the film. Great site!

hi guys, i have a suggestion - totally understand if it's a no-goer. i kinda asked this in another post before i realised there was a suggestion thread.... sorry to bring it up again.
is there any way we could have a Director's Cut petition page for people to sign? we could link to it from places like imdb.com and clivebarker.info (in fact i already spoke to the guys at clivebarker.info about it a few years ago when i was considering setting up a site similar to this myself - massive credit to Baphomette here, i could NEVER have achieved something as awesome as this site ...anyways, they were totally up for it and thought it was a fantastic idea).
just thought i'd ask....

It's worth a try. I have heard that is how they generated the momentum needed for the Firefly film Serenity.
I wish the film execs would have had more imagination and let Clive run with his vision. It seems amazing now but to think, when Nightbreed was made "Monsters" as the "good guys" was such an alien concept. Perhaps they feared the truth we already know, that the scariest monster of all is Humanity.

I'm going to try to dedicate some time to Midian and the various efforts associated with such very soon. It seems like I'm constantly apologizing for being busy, but I might have some spare hours on Monday. If not, I'll try to make some time this week. We shall see. Anyway, about the petition thing. I obviously have no clue what Morgan Creek intends to do, but something tells me that if they can justify the cost, they'll release a director's cut eventually. The biggest problem I see in respect to my part in all of it is that I would have to collect personal information in order to make the petition more credible. I'm obviously not going to do anything nefarious with the aforementioned information, but a lot of people are wary about submitting that sort of thing online, which creates yet another problem because the statistics generated from such a petition would be automatically skewed (or screwed, however you want to look at it). That doesn't mean I won't start one, it just means that I have no idea whether or not it'll do any good in the long run. I realize that there are a tremendous number of Clive Barker & Nightbreed fans out there, most of which obviously want to see a director's cut. Of course, I also realize that the marketing for Nightbreed was quite possibly the worst I've ever seen for a film, which may have an impact on Morgan Creek's profit related perception. It's consistently one of the least expensive DVDs on the horror market, though I've often thought that might help because more people might be inclined to buy it on a whim, fall in love with it & end up wanting to sign a petition such as the one you've mentioned. And let's face it, it's one of the few ways that they can try to rectify the botched marketing prior to releasing any sort of special edition. If something doesn't look interesting, it doesn't hurt to make it cheap. ;D

Hello again guys , I just had a thought, well actually more like a brainspasm but it felt like a thought... I was researching one of Darkglobe's recommended films 'The Bermuda Depths', which I just HAVE to see, and I noticed that there's a link from the imdb forum to this: www.petitiononline.com/bermuda1/petition.html So anyways, I deleted the bermuda bit and it seems that petitiononline.com do many petitions....... but unfortunately not one for Nightbreed.... Yes, yes, ok so while I was there my finger 'may' have accidently slipped and signed the 'Save Surface on NBC' petition..... just to see if it worked, honest, I swear... and well, it does. Should we try and set up a petition on their site? I personally wouldn't have any problem giving my details to you Baphomette , but obviously i can't speak for everyone. I'm just worried that if we do nothing then maybe nothing will ever happen. It's not like there's gonna be a sequel, and it would be such a shame if we, the real fans, never got to see Barker's original vision in all its extended glory. Completely agree with the marketing balls-up that Morgan Creek made. Such a terrible shame, a tragedy. It seems like a similar thing has happened to Eli Roth's 2 films - well, over here in the UK anyway... Cabin Fever was advertised as 'scary as hell', and Hostel was advertised as 'the goriest film you'll ever see'........... what a load of b*ll*cks!! Sometimes I wonder if films would be more successful had the marketing gurus ACTUALLY WATCHED THEM...... Surely the film industry would make more returns by NOT lying to their paying audience.

Ah, there's nothing like the smell of responsible public advocacy in the morning. If you'd like to start a petition at PetitionOnline.com, you're more than welcome to, and I'll be more than happy to link to it, promote it, etc. Problem is, you'll have to find out exactly whom you're petitioning. I'm fairly sure it'd be Morgan Creek (even though Warner Home Video seems to have a hand in it, too). I haven't had much extra time on my hands to research scripts to host on the site proper, but something else was bothering me that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Nightbreed, to the best of my knowledge, has only been released in a region 1 format on DVD. Like as not, Morgan Creek and/or Warner Home Video have not taken advantage of the British market, which is a bit worrying considering the fact that Clive Barker is obviously from the UK. Additionally, despite the vast difference in population between the US and UK, Nightbreed seems to have an extraordinary number of British fans, all of whom have been virtually overlooked by Warner/Morgan despite the fact that they could charge 2-3 times as much (if not more) for the DVD in the UK. I have no idea why they've chosen to take that asinine route, nor do I know whether that sort of thing will help or hurt. If they choose to release a director's cut in region 1 encoding as well as region 2, I think they'll find that they fly off the shelves on both sides of the pond. However, I still find it worrying that the theatrical, bare bones DVD isn't technically available in the UK when there's profit to be made from it.

Yeah, i think Aaron suggested some fan drawings and/or such a while ago. He showed us some cool stuff he'd done himself if i remember. It's a cool idea. We bugged him for some more for a while. In fact, hey Aaron, is the wrist better? We're still waiting dude!!
