I figured this is probably one of the best places to ask, seeing all the horror buff hanging around...
Anyway, I've been checking out this game being released later this year, Horrorclix and there are a few of the monsters/ghosts and whatnot that I'm not too sure on what exactly they are - mythology wise.
Brine Witch – Skeletal Maiden – Dire Wolf – Devil Imp – Mr. Fright – Deep One – Tickler – Terror Demon – Blood Demon – Dire Werewolf – Bane Wolf – Outpatient – R’lyeh Guardian –
Now I'm not sure if there's anything more to the likes of the a Dire Werewolf or a Bane Wolf or if they're just variations of generic werewolves, but if anyone can direct me to a bit of background info on these critters, it'd be much appreciated.
If you need pics, PM me. I can e-mail them to you (only cause I don't know how to post them here.)
Thanks again.

Um, let's see... Devil Imp: I'm guessing it's referring to an imp, a sort of hobgoblin known to wreck houses and cause trouble before poltergeists became the popular explanation for such phenomena. - I'm just guessing, though. DeepOne: One of H.P Lovecraft's many wonderful zoological creations. I believe from the story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". If memory serves they are sort of frog-fish people, who appreciate human sacrifice and like to take human spouses. R'lyeh Guardian: Another piece of Lovecraft mythos. R'lyeh is the sunken city in which Cthulhu sleeps. I admit to not knowing what the guardians looks like, but I'm not sure they're ever described in detail. None of the rest ring any particular bells, I'm afraid. I recommend Google and Wikipedia. ~ Cobweb

I've been trying to find Lovecraft books, but they're so rare, that even crusty old second hand copies are hundreds of dollars. I didg the ideas of his stuff, but never actually read anything myself. Was also hoping for Audio books of his and Barker's but very rare in these parts. As far as the miniatures go for this particular game, the Brine Witch actually looks like a female Deep One. So maybe they're related? I dunno. Thanks for the few tidbits of info anyway

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post links, so if Baphomette sees fit to delete this I won't be offended. That being said, apparently Lovecraft's works are, in at least large part, in the public domain. There are several places online where you can read his stories. This is my personal favorite. : www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/I hope I was helpful. And in regards to the last post, your absolutely welcome. ;D ~ Cobweb

You can do anything in here. Well, anything within reason. The only 'rule' I truly have is that people be civil to one another.
Other than that, you're free to do whatever you want.

Just some thoughts: Skeletal Maiden – probably some kind of skeleton warrior Dire Wolf – I believe the Dire Wolf was a real Ice Age creature, basically a giant wolf. Some people think the historic werewolf attacks credited to the Beast of Gévaudan was actually a dire wolf that wasn't quite extinct. Dire Werewolf – a giant prehistoric wolf that can turn into a human

A Tickler MIGHT be another Lovecraft thingie. Nightgaunts were supposed to swoop down and pick up victims and tickle them to death with their tails. So that's what the name might be referring to. BUT at this point it is purely speculation.
Mr. Fright might be a boogeyman type thing.
Outpatient? Hah, an ambulatory head trauma victim?
