I just ran across this case and wanted to start a tread to see what folks here thought. The just of it - on Wikipedia (and reported in other papers), there is a claim that there was an incident of some experienced hikers who died under mysterious circumstances in 1959 USSR Russia. Some of the evidence in the deaths involved some deaths by a crushing force, a missing tongue, and radiation. In any case, read the link if interested... ... because I'm wondering if this incident is "real", at least in the sense that those people died on the mountain that year, or if it's actually a Russian language "Blair Witch"-type film. Check out the links to see some pictures taken by the hikers before their death and see if you think they fit in with Russian photography in 1959 (or even fashions of the time). Or, if you speak Russian, can you tell what the pages in Russian are saying? And can anybody find any references to the story pre-2006 (the year that the first Wikipedia entry was placed)? In any case, it will be interesting to see if this does tie into a real event (which certainly has some oddities associated with it), or if (in my opinion more likely) event that this is a viral marketing scheme for a Russian horror film - or possibly involved with the new X-Files film (the footage shown at a convention recently involved pulling something out of the snow, sort of like "The Thing"). Any thoughts?
