I'd like to think we are getting closer to a director's cut. Sometimes it's what keeps me going.

I think it's just a matter of time and we'll get it. Assuming that the footage still exists...

I know I've read somewhere in the last few weeks where Clive Barker has talked to the studio and been told that there will eventually be a restored version released. Of course I can't find it right now, but I will! ;D Gracious Goddess willing, I may yet get to see Lori getting bitten before I die!

this has maybe been posted in here somewhere before - apologies if so... it's clive talking about the missing minutes from Nightbreed uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GE0HAeJa0iE&feature=relatedstill got my fingers crossed for that special edition, but until i'm holding it in my hands i shall not believe it will ever happen. i'm wondering what clive means by 'a lot of gay stuff'. i personally prefer to think of the nightbreed as a metaphor for the demons inside all people, not just the obvious reference to sexuality. in fact, i think that's a major strength of the film, that despite the intentions it can be translated in different ways by different viewers. i can totally dig an added 'song' and whatever, i'm just curious by his use of the term 'a lot'. please find that link Cobweb!! you got me salivating now!!

On the missing twenty five minutes: *Sigh* My wishful memory was playing tricks on me. This isn't new, it's just worded a bit less hopelessly. Here's the link: www.clivebarker.info/nbscene3a.htmlAnd here's the quote: '"Fox has 25 minutes that were taken out of the movie, and they’re somewhere in some huge warehouse that probably looks like the final shot of Raiders of the Lost Ark. They have promised me over and over again that they will do a special edition and I can put the 25 minutes in and so on, but they’ve never done anything about it... I’d really love to restore that material, and there’s plenty of it. There are a bunch of monsters missing, and there was wonderful work in it. There’s a lot of stuff I would like to put back, so the answer is, it’s never gone from my head as something to do. It hasn’t really worked to simply send letters to Fox, or even have my agents ask questions." Clive Barker’s Dark Plans By Joe Nazzaro, www.fangoria.com, 2 December 2004' I still hope that, one day, perhaps with this forum playing a role, the studio will see the potential for profit in releasing that missing time. "When will he come? On the next wind. If not tonight, tomorrow." On the "alot of gay stuff" quote: I wonder if he meant that there is "alot" in the material that for him, and possibly others in the gay community, has a gay context? At the risk of going off on a completely unrelated tangent, (because I can't think of a better way to explain what I mean) : I'm pagan. My cousin and dear friend is not. She loves to garden and talks to the toads in her yard. I see this as "pagan" behavior, but of course she doesn't. lol I hope that makes sense.

You would think it would be money in the bank; but studios are notoriously weird places. For instance, if Studio Exec A produces a film, but leaves before it's completion, many times Studio Exec B (who gets A's job) will purposely let the film die because it wasn't theirs, even though it hurts the company.
